Read about our trip to Burma (Myanmar) and S/E Asia for our Adoniram Judson film, BORN OF FIRE:
Well, it looks like it’s that time of year again already! This year’s theme for Christmas cards is Marilyn Monroe (in the most appropriate way of course). This year has gone exceedingly fast and we cannot believe it’s already the end of 2015! While 2014 was filled with change, this year had a theme of new experiences. God has been stretching us and testing our trust in Him-and it has proved to be a blessing that has truly strengthened our faith.
January began in a frenzy as we embarked on our trip to Asia-first to Thailand, and then mostly in Myanmar (Burma). We were there from January 11th to February 14th and in the middle of the trip, I turned 15 years old. Asia opened our eyes to so much-the people, the religion, and the culture revealed to us just how much God cares for the whole world. Often, it’s very easy to focus only on America and be blinded to the rest of His creation. He was very faithful during this time and allowed safe travels, provisions, churches and contacts, limited sickness, and much more. I truly miss Burma and hope to go back someday soon, and as for my dad, he’d be perfectly content to live there. I realized that our family is much larger than I had imagined-it reaches to the people there, as well as everywhere in the world; what a blessing to be unified with so many! This is the power of Christ and the gospel and it is nothing short of glorious.
In March, my dad went to Austin, Texas to work on a film promo for our Adoniram Judson movie and in April we had a several foster kids living with us for differing amounts of time. It’s really sad to see how people have lost the value of human life and how badly these kids were treated. Then again, their situation is definitely not foreign to me. I felt a connection to them due to my past life and one even reminded me greatly of my little brother. (He even called me his sister). J April is also when we performed our school play, Pilgrim’s Progress the Musical in which I had three parts.
In May school ended and summer began! I also got first place for the third year in a row at the Gallatin Valley Right To Life speech contest. June was the month of my dad’s birthday and I began summer workouts to rejoin the volleyball team at school!! In September, we went California for a Christian film “seminar” named “How To Succeed In Hollywood Without Losing Your Soul”. There, we met several film professionals and felt redirected by God to set the Judson film on the shelf and to work on our life story as our first film. The trip was one of the greatest events of the year and again, our family expanded to the people we met there. My sophomore year also began and I not only was on the varsity volleyball team (which placed 4th at the State Tournament this year), but I also joined Heritage’s small girl ensemble, Inspire and sang a solo at our first concert in November. In October, my dad had begun writing the script to our genesis film, “Take 2” and has recently finished the first draft.
Which brings us to December! We’re ending this year already with exciting plans for 2016 and we look forward for what God has in store for us. I continue serving with kid’s ministry at church and my dad does the Jail ministry and we work excitedly on our film! We are blessed by our amazing church family at Calvary Chapel and my school, Heritage Christian. God is indeed good!!!
We hope this letter finds you well J Have a very blessed Christmas and New Year!
